In a groundbreaking initiative, 10n8e Play in partnership with the French Embassy in Nigeria made history with the inaugural two-day studentpreneurship workshop held at the Spanish Language Center, Faculty of Arts at the prestigious University of Lagos (Unilag). This pioneering event marked a milestone in fostering the entrepreneurial spirit among students, integrating education with innovation.
The workshop, a brainchild of 10n8e Play, aimed to enlighten and empower the student community through a diverse lineup of activities and discussions. The event commenced with an introduction to the Esports industry and creatives in the industry, followed by an exclusive focus on cultivating opportunities for Esports talents. Participants engaged in immersive sessions, delving into the intricacies of the Esports industry, honing their skills, and discovering potential career paths within the Esports space.
One of the highlights was a comprehensive section dedicated to discussing marketing tools and their practical applications. Experts enlightened the students on cutting-edge marketing strategies, equipping them with insights into leveraging these tools effectively, crucial for success in today’s competitive business world.
Networking proved to be a valuable part of the workshop, providing students with the platform to connect, collaborate, and forge meaningful relationships. Entrepreneurs, industry professionals, and aspiring students came together, fostering an environment ripe for future collaborations and partnerships.
Specialized teams and workshops were also tailored to provide in-depth knowledge, mentorship, and guidance for navigating the dynamic landscape of the Esports industry. Participants immersed themselves in interactive sessions, creating their Esports teams and gaining firsthand experience and guidance from seasoned professionals.
Day two kicked off with the commissioning of the European Cultural Centre with 10n8e Play being the first organization to host an event using the space.
The pinnacle of the event was the student presentations, showcasing the innovative ideas and entrepreneurial prowess of the attendees. Judges, composed of industry experts like Precious, the head of marketing at Alliance Francais, Emamoke, the co-founder of Isanja Board Game, Eric, the gaming and UX manager at Infinix Nigeria and Nkem Nweke from Microsoft adjudicated the presentations, ultimately declaring the winners.Â
The triumphant teams were awarded cash prizes, Les Cerveaux Esports, an Esports clothing merchandise won 100,000 naira as the first-place winners, Les Immortels won 50,000 naira as the runner-up, and Les Formidables won 25,000 naira as third-place achievers.
The success of this workshop not only exposed the untapped potential within studentpreneurship but also solidified 10n8e Play’s commitment to nurturing and empowering the next generation of innovative leaders in the industry. Other partners that contributed to making the workshop a success are Simplon Africa, Alliance Francais de Lagos and Carbon.
