EA Sports have announced the winner of Africa’s first licensed FIFA 23 tournament in Nigeria!
During Covid, Integral SE observed that a lot of people were at home and esports seemed to be their go-to activity, they reached out to EA and paid for a license and after planning for over two years, the tournament was finally brought to the limelight.
The event was graced by professional gamers from Nigeria and different countries in the Western part of Africa showcasing their skills in the FIFA 23 tournament.
The Associate Director at Integral, Deolu Lamikanra also informed pulse sports about their plan to do this quarterly or at least twice a year starting from Lagos, and as Esports expands to other places in Nigeria they would most likely move to those places.
After a thrilling game at the qualifiers which took place in Unilag indoor sports center, eight gamers qualified for the finals among the top 32 gamers, and after five rounds of intense gaming, Akinkunmi Osungboye emerged as the winner of the tournament winning $10,000, Boyd from African Giants Esports finished in second place.
The event was supported by MTN, FCMB, Amstel Malta, Indomie, Uber, Rockstar Energy Drink, and Team 33 Production.
