EA Sports and EA Games are henceforth going to be two separate units, the EA Games rebranding to become EA Entertainment.
The CEO of EA, Andrew Wilson made an announcement in a post that was initially shared among employees, another new development is that Laura Miele who has been a part of the company since the late 1990s has now become the president of EA Entertainment, technology and central development, overseeing these services to promote efficiency.
The CEO, Wilson, mentioned that she will be working with individuals like Respawn’s Vince Zampella who will “lead the world-class studios responsible for Apex Legends, our Star Wars games, and Battlefield” and Samantha Ryan, who “will remain focused on leading lifestyle franchises and blockbuster single-player experiences,”. Cam Weber will remain the President of the rebranded EA Sports; EA Entertainment and oversee the affairs of this segment.
According to Wilson, this transformation will empower the leaders of the company to carry out more creative ventures and be financially accountable. This will help in making fast insightful decisions that will in turn promote the development of the company.
Wilson also hinted that EA Entertainment might expand to cover more than video games and will include “new modes of watch, create and connect”. He also stated that the shake-up aims to empower the creative teams in order to ensure that they realize the vision of the company.
