GameEvo is revolutionising the Nigerian esports scene with the launch of the Onile Challenge, a platform designed to showcase the skills of grassroots and amateur gamers. This initiative aims to identify and nurture the country’s top gaming talent for the years to come.

The Onile Challenge offers underground players a long-awaited opportunity to prove their mettle and compete at the highest level. With 16 local government areas and 16 gaming centres hosting the event, aspiring champions can represent their communities and vie for a cash prize of 3 million Naira.

To ensure a level playing field, professional players are not allowed to participate in the Onile Challenge. This creates a unique space for amateur gamers to shine and potentially change their lives.

Stakeholders from the esports industry have gathered to discuss the sustainability of this innovative project and its potential to foster the growth of the ecosystem. The deliberations held on July 14th could pave the way for more grassroots gamers to transition into professional EAFC players.

The Onile Challenge is set to expand beyond Lagos, with plans to bring the event to other regions of Nigeria in the future. The partnership between GameEvo and local gaming centres (Onile) is crucial to sustaining this project and supporting the overall esports ecosystem.

The Onile Challenge is currently underway and will continue from August to November. Exciting updates and announcements will be shared throughout the tournament. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the CADE’24 event is also taking place simultaneously, showcasing GameEvo’s dedication to fostering the esports community.
