Africa is set to host its first-ever IESF African Esports championship, marking a milestone in the global gaming industry. The event, organized by the International Esports Federation (IESF), features the largest prize pool ever recorded in Africa’s esports history, solidifying its presence on the international gaming stage.
The championship will bring together over 300 top-tier players and teams from 47 African countries to compete in four gaming titles: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), and eFootball 2024. The regional qualifiers will take place online from June 10th to 19th, with 180 out of the 300 players advancing to compete in the IESF African Esports Championship from August 17th to 21st, 2024 in Casablanca, Morocco.
One of the most exciting aspects of the tournament is its unprecedented $100,000 prize pool, which exceeds all previous records in African Esports tournaments. This significant prize pool not only boosts the morale of participants to bring their best performances but also highlights the growing investment and interest in Esports within the continent.
Beyond the competition, the championship aims to bring African gamers together to share their passion for gaming, fostering a sense of community and unity that transcends geographical boundaries. The tournament will elevate Africa’s status in the global gaming community and pave the way for future collaborations and opportunities.
In addition to showcasing the talents in Africa, the championship will provide a platform for skilled gamers to compete and qualify for the World Esports Championship in Riyadh.
The success of this championship will set a promising precedent for future events and tournaments aimed at promoting Esports in Africa. As the African Esports community continues to thrive with consistent support from stakeholders and enthusiasts, one thing is certain: the journey has only just begun!
