Although many females share a deep passion for gaming, it’s often perceived as a casual hobby rather than a honed skill. Regrettably, they are frequently denied the opportunities to explore professional avenues in the gaming industry.
MasterCard is dedicated to bridging the gap between female and male gamers, fostering equal opportunities for all, irrespective of gender. Their aim is to enable anyone to pursue a professional career in the esports sector.
To this end, MasterCard has established a Gamer Academy designed to enrich the knowledge and expertise of gamers worldwide. The program is set to commence in 2024, welcoming participants from all corners of the globe.
The academy’s primary objective is to empower gamers with the cutting-edge skills necessary for advancing their careers in esports and gaming while also providing access to giants in the industry with a truckload of experience in the field. Additionally, participants will have access to a number of notable Esports events.
Some of those who have partnered with Mastercard to make this program a success are Riot Games, the organizers of the global League of Legends tournament, popularly known as Worlds, G2 Esports, a European Esports organization known for its successes in competitive Esports across games like League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and their representation for women gaming teams.
