Nigeria’s Sports Minister Endorses Esports in NigeriA

In a meeting with members of the Nigerian Esports Federation, the minister of sports development in Nigeria, Senator John Owan Enoh acknowledged the fast-paced growth of Esports in Nigeria.

The meeting that was held in his office at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja also saw the president of the Nigerian Esports Federation, Mr. Clinton Agbor Ayuk in attendance.

Senator Enoh expressed his optimism about the esports industry in Nigeria and emphasized its potential to provide social inclusiveness, combat poverty, and address security issues among Nigerian youth. He stated, “Esports is an undeniable force, and we cannot afford to overlook its impact.”

He continued, “I believe that by promoting sports, particularly esports, we can achieve social inclusiveness, reduce unemployment, and alleviate poverty. Moreover, esports has the potential to strengthen the unity and security of our nation.”

The President of the Nigerian Esports Federation, Mr Clinton, Aso revealed that the aim of the visit was to show their unwavering support to the minister who has also embraced the diversity of sports in the country.

He also highlighted the recent achievements of the Nigerian team at the Afro-Arab Championship in Saudi Arabia and other notable tournaments they’ve participated in over the past few years.

The Esports industry in Nigeria is gradually gaining momentum and recognition and we hope to see more people embrace it in the future.
